Everyone knows that I am super hardcore retard mode when it comes to RPG’s, even more so when it is a Jp-style RPG, EVEN more so when it is a Squenix JRPG; However, I’m not sure I get what they are trying to do here.
First off the gameplay change, I fully understand that all gameplay needs to evolve, and moreso, re-evolve; if ffxiii was still using standard ff 1 combat and gameplay styles, it would be horrible. One of the things that Squenix has almost always been great at, is taking something that works, and improving it to make it work better, i.e. the combat system from ffx-2 to the total open world system of ffxi, then again in ffxii only improved and made even better; until finally you have the ffxiii system which is going to blow peoples minds once they try it.
My problem with this is, they (Squenix, Square Enix) are calling this an RPG, but it’s playing like a hack n slash. You have all the standard “leveling” components including experience, upgrades, additional purchases and unlockables yet you throw a new combat style in the mix. Again, I’m all for change but why fix something that isn’t broken, w/e.
Onto the next! Why are so many people having a baby over getting a M rating? Battlefield Bad Company 2 pushed so hard for an M rating, that they had to rely upon random, poorly dialogued curse phrases whenever you take an objective, or one of your objectives is about to get taken. It is almost as bad as watching a Samuel L movie, no kidding. Now Squenix is pushing so hard and trying to focus on the “M” rating for this game. If you have great gameplay, who cares what the rating is, why feel the need to “trash” a game up just to get a “more serious” rating?
If War, in Darksiders said poop, or crap, instead of hell or damn, I would laugh alot more but I would still think it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played. If he ripped people open and unicorns and carebears fell out instead of blood and guts, again; laughing would follow but I would still play the game because it’s amazing.
On the complete opposite side of that, I would NEVER play a game with poor gameplay or controls, simply because OMG IT’S A RATED M GAME.
Bottom line, Square Enix, dont break shit that’s working fine, just so can fix it.
Also, is it me, or does that trailer seem like, Final Fantasy meets old school DMC meets Nightmare before Christmas, wtf!

I know I talked a monumental amount of trash about this game, but hey; it looks like the devs and designers of this game actually listen to feedback from the players.
This game went from being garbage, to probably defining online gameplay for this genre. Infinity Ward is definitely going to have to back the F up and punt after this game comes out.
It has happened before, and it will happen again, I am eating crow.

Ok, so a little back story on this. Being able to solo raid content is extremely difficult. It requires knowing every facet of your characters class and how to time everything just right. This guy here solo’s a 40 man raid instance (granted, the instance is 3 years old, but nevertheless still a very hard task) and solos numerous WotLK instances.
Just wow
